We are here to serve you.
We are Greater Hudson Heritage Network.
GHHN is a professional service organization formed to advance and advocate the preservation and interpretation of the area’s historical, ethnic, and cultural heritages. We envision communities that value the exploration and preservation of their heritage and culture, and are empowered to save it for and interpret it to future generations, through the leadership of museums and
history organizations.
GHHN’s program services are local, professional, and statewide. We offer workshops, webinars, consultations and assistance, a resource network, and professional development opportunities to advance the work of historians, historic house museums, heritage centers, historic sites, archives, and libraries.
GHHN encourages organizations to provide professional development opportunities for volunteers and to engage with professional consultants to enhance their operations.

GHHN administers the Conservation Treatment Grant Program in partnership with the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) which now offers three opportunities for collecting institutions statewide: Conservation Treatment, Preservation Supplies, and Site Assessments. Conservation Treatment provides support for treatment procedures to aid in stabilizing and preserving objects in the collections of museums, historical, and cultural organizations in New York State by professional conservators. The Preservation Supplies program enables applicants to request funds to purchase much needed collections management supplies that are critical to the stewardship of their collections and the Site Assessment program supports a collections consultant's half day site visit to an organization focusing on a collections related topic.
Our IMLS funded Connecting to New York’s Collections program (2012-2016) addressed specific preservation training needs in connection with the collection types identified as "at risk” in New York’s planning project: books and paper, photographic collections, digital materials, and historic objects. The program offered webinars, free circuit rider visits, how-to videos, and a knowledge portal website.
GHHN promotes participation in diverse, engaging programming and learning opportunities among our members and their public audiences. Strong professional networks are built through attendance at workshops, roundtables, Behind the Scenes networking events, and at our annual conference and Awards for Excellence.
Since 2003, GHHN has presented community preservation programs in the form of Stone Strategies workshops for the documentation and preservation of historic cemeteries.
