Benjamin Sandberg has served as the executive director of The History Center in Tompkins County, a regional history museum located in Ithaca, New York, since 2019. Prior to his current role, Ben served in smaller museums including historic houses and historical societies. In another lifetime, he worked as a scenic technical director and carpenter for a broad swathe of theaters, arts cooperatives, and other artistic institutions across the United States. He holds a Masters in Public Administration from Cornell University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Oberlin College. His commitment to history and preservation make him an enthusiastic advocate for the historical environment, and is excited to connect GHHN’s work across New York. His specific areas of interest include the preservation of museum collections, specifically three dimensional objects and born-digital materials. Outside the scope of his professional work, Ben is an avid cyclist and emerging carnivorous plant grower.
