Adam Capitanio, Ph.D. was Director of Programs at Humanities New York from 2014-2025. At HNY, he oversaw the Reading & Discussion program, the university partnership Humanities Centers Initiative, and developed and executed signature events across New York State, including the bi-annual showcase “The American Imagination.” Adam earned a Ph.D. in American Studies from Michigan State University, and holds an M.A. and B.A. in Cinema Studies from New York University. He has taught literature and film courses at a number of universities, and is currently working on a book project about independent film distributors in 1970s New York. Adam lives in the Hudson Valley with his wife and newborn daughter.
