GHHN's 2016 Annual Conference theme is Sensing History: Using the Senses to Access History, Engage Audiences and Inspire our Future
Immerse yourself in GHHN's Annual Conference for a sensory exploration of the past. Discover and share strategies for using sound, taste, scent, touch, and sight to engage audiences in heritage collections and environments. Workshops and panels will feature approaches such as storytelling, foodways, and tactile engagement. Other presentations will show how heritage sites have inspired contemporary art and performances. Join us and explore opportunities to connect the story of your site to issues of today and action for the future! This year, we are looking for breakout sessions that address how you have used the harnessed the power of the five senses to elevate your interpretation, public and/or educational programming, exhibits, hands-on or immersive experiences, etc. If your visitors can see, hear, smell, taste, or touch history as a result of your efforts- we want to learn all about it!
