Ward Mintz is Executive Director of the Coby Foundation in New York, the nation’s only foundation to focus solely on grants to the fashion and textile field. The recipients, mainly museums, have included the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MassMoCA, the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum , the Connecticut Historical Society, and the Ukrainian Museum. Previously, Mintz was Deputy Director for Programs and Collections at the Jewish Museum (1987-94) and the Newark Museum (1994-2003). At both, he supervised exhibitions, education and the curatorial and collections staff. Mintz also directed the Museum Program at the N.Y.S. Council on the Arts (1979-87). He began his career at the Brooklyn Museum and subsequently founded two institutions, the currently named Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning and the Nassau County Museum of Art. Mintz is a member of the Town of Rochester Historic Preservation Commission and serves on the Boards of the Greater Hudson Heritage Network and the Friends of Historic Kingston. He is also an independent curator, lecturer and consultant on exhibitions and collections.
