Janet Rassweiler is a consultant to staff of museums and arts and culture organizations. Her services include planning with content and community experts, interpretive and program development and delivery, and strategic planning facilitation. Janet also has over 25 years’ experience working in arts and culture organizations. She has just completed her year as Interim Director of the Leadership in Museum Education graduate program at Bank Street College. She was Program Director for Young Audiences New York, overseeing the implementation of in-depth partnerships, professional development for schoolteachers and teaching artists, and research and development initiatives. Janet was Director for Programs and Collections at The New Jersey Historical Society for nearly 12 years as the organization moved from being an exclusive institution to an inclusive, contributing community member and oversaw the exhibition, education and museum collections departments. She has also worked as Director of Education at the South Street Seaport Museum, Cooper-Hewitt Museum and Paley Center for Media (Museum of Television and Radio), all in New York City.
Janet is a graduate of the Getty Foundation’s Museum Leadership Institute, has a M.S. Ed., combined degree in Museum Education and Special Education from Bank Street Graduate College of Education and a B.A. from Smith College.
