Week 2: Build a Paper Tower (guest challenge from ArchForKids) Attention Creative People! Are you ready to find out what's in store for Week 2 of the #ghhnvcon20 #creativityincubator Creativity Challenge? It's a fun one! This week we asked ArchForKids-architecture for children to propose a challenge that will help activate your creativity and challenge your architecture and engineering knowledge. Using only 10 sheets of paper, tape, and scissors you are tasked to construct an architectural tower while focusing on height, stability and strength. You also have a 15 minute time limit. (Bonus points this week if you measure your tower and if it's stable enough to support an item heavier than a sheet of paper!) For this Creativity Challenge, we want you to take work of art - either one from your site or one you can find online (and credit of course!) - and then reimagine/recreate it using unconventional materials. These can be office supplies, or food, or even children's toys.
For inspiration: check out these classic food paintings, these artistic masterpieces recreated as food, or these "Recreations of Famous Paintings of Myths Using Only My Children’s Toys". Bonus points if you recreate the work of art using yourself, like these folks: As always, don't forget to post your challenge photo on social media using the hashtag #creativityincubator and post in the CI Community on FB, or on Twitter or Instagram - that’s it! Remember to tag GHHN and NYSCA in the posts so we can see them! (GHHN - Greater Hudson Heritage Network, @theGHHN, NYSCA - New York State Council on the Arts, @NYSCArts) This month, we want you to draw a self portrait….but, let’s mix it up a little. We want you to draw a self portrait with your non-dominant hand. When you’re finished, make sure to post it and if you’d like, you can post a selfie alongside it. Have fun!
This month's challenge is short and sweet...six words, to be exact. It comes to us courtesy of Ernest Hemingway, who famously wrote "For Sale - baby shoes, never worn". Now, we want you to craft a six word story about an object in your collection. Get the details here.
Remember - all you have to do is complete the task, and take a photo to share on social media - this can be a photo of your team doing the challenge, and/or whatever product happened to come from the challenge itself. Use the hashtag #creativityincubator - and post in the CI Community on FB, or on Twitter or Instagram - that’s it! Remember to tag GHHN and NYSCA in the posts so we can see them!
