Elizabeth Martin, landscape designer and activities planner at Stephen Tilly, Architect, left a career as dancer and choreographer to work as a planner, arts consultant and writer on a major public space improvement project in Washington, D.C. Ms. Martin graduated from Radcliffe College. Trained in garden and landscape design at the New York Botanical Garden, she works on private, institutional and public landscapes and prepares site design guidelines for historic districts. She brings her arts/programming insights and long history with GHHN to the service of clients planning the interpretation or adaptive re-use of historic properties. Historic research precedes design for vintage landscapes. A strong environmental ethic—a commitment to resource conservation, self-sufficiency within a site and the use of native plants where appropriate—is embedded in her work. She is on the boards of the Greater Hudson Heritage Network and the Westchester County Historical Society.
